You could find it humorous to joke around and tell individuals that you won the lottery, when you failed to. But think about this - If you tell people something that's wrong, then it is a hoax. The definition of a hoax is'something intended to cheat or defraud.' Why am I writing this? Because there are 2 recent examples where similar circumstances went too far.
Just latterly, a girl in England posted a message in her account on the popular networking site called Bebo. She wrote that she held one of the winning 45 million GBP EuroMillions tickets. If this was true, it might be major news. But it was not true - It was merely a joke. However , somebody thought it to be true because, the next day, 2 writers from a nationwide UK paper showed up at their house to interview them. There is nothing funny about this because resources were spent on something that was just clearly made up.
A worse example occurred in Columbus, Ohio where a lady pulled up to a coat store in a limousine. She came out of the limo, walked into the store, and exclaimed that she won the lottery. Further, she claimed that she would pay for everyone's coat purchase in the shop. Everyone in the store spotted that this was a hoax when she took off in her limo without leaving any money. A big riot ensued and damage was caused.
As you can see, a lottery hoax isn't funny. What you may think of as a joke, others may take to be real. So, watch what you say ; it could cause huge Problems.
